Catching up with Notari

Posted in Alt with tags on October 24, 2011 by zarigar

It’s been almost a year and a half since Mohawk Troll caught up with Notari in an exclusive interview. We’ve managed to once more get the opportunity to sit down with the globe-trotting mage on where she is now, what her future plans are and a possible overthrow of the trolls to become the new main.

Mohawk Troll: Thanks so much again for taking the time to talk to us.

Notari: No problem. I know how much the little people adore me and I consider it charity to let them hear about the things going on in my life.

MT: Always a giver. So we hear you are now 85?

N: Finally! I know, right? I don’t know what took so long. I guess the losers had to go first and pave the way and work the bugs out before it was time for my presence to grace everyone.

MT: Is it true that Brewfest was the catalyst to getting you maxed out?

N: Are you implying that it takes copious amounts of booze to play with me?

MT:…something about a trinket…

N: Oh…haha! Yes! I had been lounging around in the Wrath dungeons for what seemed like forever. But I was close enough to Cata content that a good push would put me there. And then once I was in Cata it seemed pretty easy to level up so that I could take down Direbrew.

There were a lot of pug groups that needed my help and I’m someone who can help, you know? It’s like you said, I’m totally a giver.

MT: You don’t understand sarcasm, do you?

N: Sarcasm is for the uneducated. And the poor. And gnomes.

MT: The rest of this interview is going to be fun…

N: I know, right! I’m very excited to be out there with the others. Even the trolls who have that slightly skunky smell.

MT: I can’t imagine what that is.

N: Probably some of that herb stuff that poor people use when they can’t afford soap. Have you been to Goblin Slums? I feel like I’m going to throw up every time I go there. But then oddly enough I start to get a craving for a grilled cheese sandwich.

MT: So I guess Org isn’t all that bad?

No. Even though it is filthy and I think Hellscream should put in some of those autosweeping brooms like we have in Silvermoon. Orgrimmar has really nice places to get your hair did. Those goblins with their tiny fingers can make the most intricate hairstyles. I will have to get myself some of those goblins when the gnomes who work in my sweatsho–…I mean…”factory” die….I mean…”retire”.

MT: What do you do when you’re not making slaves of the other races?

N: [laughs]’s Hallow’s Eve now, so lots of teleporting around collecting candy and working on that holiday. Do you know that they have masks of other races? I mean, gross! Who would WANT to look like a human, even just temporarily? I’m starting to break out in hives just thinking about it.

I was also running heroics. The holiday has kind of cut into it, but I plan to get back in once I’m done with Hallow’s Eve.

MT: Are you making a run at becoming the new main?

I think that I already should be considered the main. Hello, I’m a blood elf. I’m gorgeous. All of those holiday masks should look like me. Who wouldn’t want to be me?

MT: People with a soul?

N: I don’t get it.

MT: We were counting on that.

N: Anyway I do think that I should be the main, but whatever. Even when I’m not being played I know I’m the most awesome of the bunch.

MT: You realize you are neither a troll nor do you have a mohawk.

N: A mohawk? God, no. But I can be a troll. Watch this:

Anal[For The Children]

MT: Thank you for your time.

The new Jendora?

As was the goal, Notari the failmage got up to 84 to get the Brewfest boss and picked up her reward trinket for doing so. Since I was already on a roll I just went ahead and pushed her onwards towards 85.

So now I have…6?…7?…level 85 characters?

Hold on.

Zarigar. Lorethos. Jendora. Notari. Tenderloyne. Sarinde.

Ok, 6. So there I was, logged on to my 6th 85 when Repgrind smart-assedly asks if Notari is the new Jendora. Ha.

It’s felt like I fought with this mage for a long time. I went through periods where I couldn’t stand to play her and then other times when I would maniacally level her up. She held on to my BoA gear, then I would steal it away from her to give to my other leveling toons.

As I say with all my toons, I don’t know what I will do with them. There is no master plan.

I have figured out, though, that I kind of like the period between hitting 85 and trying to gear them up as best as I can. With Notari in particular, I was always holding onto gear and looking for pieces that would boost my ilevel and allow me to get into the next level of instances. I would have to remind myself not to sell a cloak I was holding onto because it boosted my ilevel more than the level 1 BoA cloak did.

I learned what it’s like to have the shame of equipping a reward piece with spirit on it because the rest of the stats were so much better. (I never rolled Need on a spirit piece, I just couldn’t go that far. But if the RNG god happened to drop it in my bag….)

I enjoy this time where every new piece makes a noticeable difference in my mana pool and output. I can put big boy enchants on things now, knowing I will have them for a while.

I like going into an instance and seeing how I compare against others. It’s not like healing where I wasn’t comfortable unless I almost outgeared it. She’s slowly gearing up and after that…who knows?

Maybe there is hope for that baby warlock after all.

Rambling Thoughts: Weekend Update

Moar ramming….and kodos, too

I’ve been doing the Brewfest boss shuffle on everyone eligible and it’s finally over. Mounts are just falling out of the sky for some of them. It started off with my “alt” Zarigar getting a kodo. Sarinde got a ram. Freaking abandoned Tenderloyne got both. Then Jendora got both. Glad to see my shapeshifting druid now has mount options…

Beyond the Brewfest boss, I haven’t done a whole lot. I’ve totally ignored the daily where you beat the ram through Orgrimmar and yell about beer or something. So that’s a huge loss of potential tokens. I think by the time this is over everyone will pick themselves up a new pink elek pet and that will be it. Anyone else who needed Brewfest clothes or a beer membership will have to wait until next year. Or the year after that.

As long as Zarigar is all done with Brewfest achieves I don’t really care what the rest of them do. 😛

Bringing up the rear

Notari, conceived as a joke and close to becoming a bank alt, is actually close to max level. This is me stunned. Getting over the mid-Northrend hump was huge and it’s been fairly smooth since then.

It’s funny because I don’t really care if this toon gets achievements and the Brewfest trinket is nice but not earth-shattering, but somehow making the goal of her reaching 84 and going for the boss has been a huge motivator. For all I know I’ll get bored with her again as soon as she gets to 84 and picks up the trinket, but who knows?

She might actually pass Sabryel and actually level up. Nice work, joke toon, nice work.

ICC for me!

Working on my Brewfest rotations I logged onto Sarinde and was met with “come to ICC”. I responded back that Sarinde does not have a dps spec, thinking that will be the end of that. But, no, there is my invite and repgrind will suffer as ret for me. Sweet, sweet repgrind.

I probably should have told them that Sarinde’s raiding experience was non-existant and I had no idea how she would fare healing a raid. Whatevs, it’s ICC.

It was very funny to see the Alliance side of ICC. Where haz the Saurfang RP gone? And, as Sorak innocently pointed out, their gunship cannons did look particularly penis-y.

I did have trouble on Blood Princes when my stupid toon decided to get stuck walking backwards. Gah. I panicked and did a “/reload ui” and came back to find myself in a corner, nearly dead. Some people did die. Whoops.

The fight with the green-dragon-you-have-to-heal-whose-name-escapes-me-right-now was interesting since I’ve never done the inside part. Since they were going for the portal achievement that was what I was focusing on mostly—not missing the portal. Anything else that I managed to get right during that fight was just icing on the cake.

On LK, the other healer was a druid, so by default I was on diseases. Sorak claims that I am an expert on diseases. It’s to CnG’s innocence that they think Sorak is saying I am good with the disease mechanic of the fight when he is actually calling me a disease-riddled-whore.

We try a couple of attempts on heroic, the switch to normal to just get him down. This is only the 3rd time I’ve seen the LK go down and, an entire expansion later, it’s still pretty awesome.
